To quote the RAC when reviewing this 2012 version of the Mini Countryman – “Here is a MINI - but not as you might know it. But then, if it was conventionally sized, this Countryman wouldn't be able to keep existing MINI people loyal when they out-grew their city runabouts and shopping rockets. Nor would it tempt in buyers new to the brand. Customers liking the vibrant SUV-inspired Crossover concept, but wanting it with a little more tarmac sparkle.

This Countryman has done both these things, though at the cost of British style and build. It's as suited to the urban jungle as a Land Rover is to the Amazon. It's a car created for the times we live in. And a Country you could be proud of.”

Given that “early versions rolled along Austrian production lines alongside £150,000 Aston Martin Rapides” and BMW, who now own the MINI brand, know a thing or two about putting together quality vehicles I am not sure that the comment about British build is negative! Unless the RAC are suggesting it has improved 😊

This particular example in lovely True Blue metallic livery has only 2 previous keepers on the V5 (last owner since June 2019) and comes with a fully stamped up BMW service history evidencing annual services at 17253, 32883, 34034, 37224, 50588, 58140, 69260, 82551 and 94236 miles. It has come into us with exactly 98,000 miles on the clock and will be receiving our normal PDI inspection and put through a new MOT as the existing one expires on the 09/08/24.

According to the paperwork with the vehicle It benefits from having had a new auxiliary belt fitted during the service at 69260 in March 2021, a new AC condenser fitted in June 2021 at 72360, a new thermostat housing and coolant change in August 2022 and a new stop/start battery in January 2023. All indicating that it has been looked after. You will find all the relevant paperwork reproduced online in the AutoTrader advert 😊

Unlike some we have come across, this Countryman Cooper is a real pleasure to drive. Everything feels “right and tight”, with no knocks or noises to suggest the mileage it has covered, four good tyres and although the bodywork does have some “character” as we call it in the Trade (i.e. a few minor dinks and scratches commensurate with mileage and twelve years on the road - please refer to the pictures), it still looks great in this colour and a real eyecatcher. I suspect that the first person to see her will snap her up as she ticks all the boxes!
