Description

Production of the Audi A4 started in November 1994 as a successor to the Audi 80 range and this particular example from 2007 is a heavily facelifted model which carries the internal Audi designation of B7. 

As the “bedrock of the firm’s extensive model range, and for many, the quintessential premium family car” – to quote Parker’s Guide - you would expect to find a high specification and a wealth of features at your fingertips and that is certainly the case here in this highly specified S-Line Tiptronic model.

The performance on tap from the strong, turbo charged 161 BHP engine is impressive. It delivers a 0-60 MPH time of 8.3 seconds through a very smooth 7 speed Automatic gearbox but it does this in a way which will bring a smile to the face of all those motorists out there who appreciate that heady simultaneous mix of power and sophistication only to be found in a fully equipped and well-made cockpit upholstered in quality leathers.

The Cabriolet version we have here for you was produced by Karmann until February 2009 and is a beautifully engineered example of the “soft top” genre. The gleaming, deep black bodywork is highlighted by the use of anodised metal trim with discrete S-Line badging and when that power hood folds back to welcome in the sun it feels like the motoring gods are smiling down upon you!

Sure, this vehicle has covered just short of 100,000 miles and has a few tiny dinks to show for it. But a modern, quality vehicle like this is only just hitting its prime at this mileage and is now at a ridiculously low price point compared to when it first left the factory. No more depreciation to see here, just pure pleasure of ownership with thousands left in your bank. Quite an important consideration in the present economic climate!

We hesitate to again quote Parker’s who said the A4 has “certainly been evolved into a state of near-perfection” but for those of us who are determined to still enjoy motoring with the wind in our hair and a smile on our face whilst being surrounded by motoring luxury, you would need to spend a great deal more money on something like a Bentley Continental Convertible before you saw any appreciable improvement in your actual on the road experience.
